FAQ

General Question

Everything you want to know about cataract surgery.

Cataract surgery is often covered by insurance, especially when deemed medically necessary. It can be performed on both eyes, but usually not simultaneously. Surgeons typically wait for the first eye to heal before scheduling surgery on the second eye.

Cataract surgery should be considered when vision impairment significantly interferes with daily activities. While cataract surgery is typically a one-time procedure per eye, some individuals may need a second procedure called YAG laser capsulotomy to address a cloudy membrane.
